Second Phase of Aintree Industrial Estate Facelift Underway
Aintree Industrial Estate Improvement Programme focuses on the Lower Lane/Brookfield Drive/Hanson Road Corridor (Phase 1 completed Autumn 2005) and the Charnock Road, Liver Industrial Estate and Jacobs Factory sub-areas (Phase 11).
The first phase of improvement work at the 1950`s Aintree Industrial Estate, costing £3.6 million, including infrastructure, public realm and environment works. This is giving a new lease of life to the estate and is helping to attract new businesses.
The Aintree Industrial Estate improvement programme objective was to enhance the image and operating environment of the Estate to provide a more attractive front door to an employment area, and to shift the main vehicle access route away from Stopgate Lane, which is primarily residential in character.
The Estate is home to its two largest employers and contains significant opportunities for new development and refurbishment to accomodate new emeployment uses. The project will assist with the successful delivery of the Bemrose and former Open Air School development project. It will also complement the initiative that has resulted in the Estate being designated as one of six Beacon Green Business Parks in the North West of England.
Successful Implementation of Phase 1 works has improved the operating environment for over 30 businesses and facilitated the development for two key development opportunities that could create around 125 jobs. When Phase 11 works are successfully implemented, it is anticipated the scheme will have upgraded 2.1 km of highway and facilitated the development of 7.42 hectare of land.
